This module aims to develop an advanced understanding of sustainable development from economic, social and environmental dimensions, the global and national policy discourses on measurement and indicators, implementation challenges, the roles of state and non-state actors, and corporate social responsibility.
This module aims to provide you with an advanced understanding of the theory and practice of project implementation management skills.
This module provides an advanced understanding of development practice across different contexts, focusing on how needs are assessed, and how policies, programmes, and projects are monitored and evaluated. Students critically engage with the methods and tools used to measure development outcomes, including indicators, metrics, and major international indices and rankings.
Explore the foundational principles and values underpinning Project Risk Management methodologies, with a focus on critically evaluating theory and practice in risk identification, assessment and response, enterprise risk management, and sustainability, environmental and humanitarian risk contexts, while developing reflective and creative problem-solving approaches.
After completing the taught modules, students then undertake a substantial Dissertation project on a subject of their choice (relating to the Programme’s aims and learning objectives).
This involves research and analysis, and preparation of a Dissertation of up to 15,000 words. This is a major opportunity not only to research and prepare a substantial scholarly analysis of a specialist area in which the student is particularly interested, but also to demonstrate an advanced understanding of relevant policy and practitioner agendas and debates to increase the value of the Masters degree to pursue relevant careers.
